Chris Squire on XYZ with Jimmy Page and Alan White

Chris Squire, in a 2008 interview, discusses his band that never was. During a Yes hiatus in 1981, the bassist found himself rehearsing with drummer Alan White on a project that was to be with guitarist Jimmy Page. Their group never made it off the ground, although tapes exist of their studio sessions, as heard in the background of this interview. Also discussing the band, in a separate interview from 2009, is Steve Nardelli of The Syn.

XYZ (ex Yes Zeppelin) - Can You See

This is a song by short lived project called XYZ that consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist Chris Squire and drummer Alan White from Led Zeppelin and Yes. There has been only one official release of their material, the song Run With The Fox. It was released in 1991 in the Yes box set, Yesyears. This song is one of the three demo songs the band ever recorded. It was recorded in 1981. The demo is believed to be stolen from Page's home. This song is called Can You See or it is also sometimes called And (Do) You Believe It. The song was also recorded by Yes in Magnification (2001) renamed as "Can You Imagine". It remains fairly similar to the original version. However there is no guitar solo and the band is accompanied by an orchestra. Chris Squire does vocals also on the Yes version. See Wikipedia for more information about the band. Check out my profile to hear the two other songs ever recorded by XYZ on their rare demo!

XYZ - Telephone Secrets

This is a song by short lived project called XYZ that consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist Chris Squire and drummer Alan White from Led Zeppelin and Yes. The band never officially released anything. This song is one of the three demo songs the band ever recorded. It was recorded in 1981. The demo is believed to be stolen from Page's home. This song is called Telephone Secrets, it is also known as "Telephone Spies". The song was also recorded by Yes on Drama (1980). On Drama the song is called "Song No. 4 (Satellite)". It is only available on remastered & reissued version printed on 2004. Unfortunately the Yes version doesn't have vocals by Squire at all. See Wikipedia for more information about the band. XYZ (ex Yes Zeppelin) - "Mind Drive"

The demo is believed to be stolen from Page's home. It was recorded in 1981. The song has no official name but the main theme was later used by Yes in their song Mind Drive, on Keys to Ascension 2 (1997), so thats why I named it so. The riff was used on The Firm's "Fortune Hunter". See Wikipedia for more information about the band. Check out my profile to hear the two other songs ever recorded by XYZ on their rare demo!
